Bill Westerfield
Bill is an award winning artist for ABC-TV. With over twenty years in the television industry, he has created still graphics and animations for all of ABC's national broadcasts including ABC's Wide World of Sports, Monday Night Football, Primetime Live, 20/20, The View, World News Now, World News Tonight and presently for Good Morning America.
Bill was born in Newark NJ and raised on the Jersey Shore. After a long stay in NYC's Hell's Kitchen, he has moved to Trumbull, CT with his wife Heidi and two children, Aidan and Keira.
A graduate of DuCret School of the Arts in Plainfield N.J., Bill has always followed the artistic path. And although most of his professional career has been spent in television working with computers as a graphic artist, he has never left his paint brushes too far behind. He is avid an watercolorist preferring figurative work. Space Nicks was painted with gouache and colored pencils on Arches watercolor paper.
His desire to illustrate children's books reached its peaked after meeting Maurice Sendak (Where The Wild Things Are). Mr. Sendak's advice was, "If you want to be successful, you have to be dedicated and work very hard." He was right.
The Animated Version of Space Nicks
Bill has taken the artwork from the 'Saint Nick and the Space Nicks' and with the help from two very talented people has created an animated version. Robert Krulwich lends his incomparable reading talents and does a wonderful job as the narrator of Mr. Mears prose. John Cain has written and performs two original songs specifically for this story.
